Why students go
Pleven’s central mosque, and the closest place of worship to the Medical University — roughly 350 metres, about five minutes on foot. For Muslim students arriving from Pakistan, India, Turkey or the Middle East, this is likely the first place you’ll want to find.
The mosque is in the city centre on bul. “Ruse”, within the everyday walking area between the university and the shops.
Good to know
- Prayer times are not published online. Ask at the mosque, or at your first Friday prayer (jumu’ah) — that’s also the easiest way to meet other Muslim students and the local community.
- Bulgaria has a long-established Muslim minority, so a mosque here is entirely ordinary rather than unusual.
