Why students go
The classic “the bulb blew and the curtain rail fell down” shop. Big DIY store carrying light bulbs, extension leads, adapters, basic tools, curtain rails, hooks, paint — and a decent range of lamps, storage and kitchenware too, so it overlaps with the home shops.
Good to know
- Sells plug adapters — Bulgaria uses European type C/F sockets at 230 V, so anyone arriving from the UK, India or Pakistan needs one on day one.
- Bulbs in Bulgaria use the standard European E27 / E14 screw fittings; take the old bulb or a photo with you.
- Staff may not speak much English — showing a photo of what you need works perfectly.
- Landlord’s job or yours? For anything fixed (boiler, plumbing, electrics) call the landlord first — don’t buy parts yourself.
