The XXIII International Medical Scientific Conference for Students and Young Doctors runs 12–17 October 2026 at TELEC, the university’s telecommunication endoscopic centre. This year’s theme is “Medicine through the steps of life.”
Why it’s worth your attention
It is the most accessible piece of academic life at MU-Pleven, and it happens on your own campus. The conference has run for 23 years specifically to bring students into research — not as spectators, but presenting their own work alongside young doctors.
If you have any interest in research, publishing, or simply seeing what a scientific conference looks like from the inside, this is the one to go to. First-years are not too junior to attend.
It’s also international, which means the working language is English and you will not be at a disadvantage.

What we don’t know yet: the registration fee, the abstract submission deadline, and whether attending without presenting is free. These change each year and we haven’t been able to confirm the 2026 figures. Check the official site or message the organisers — and if you find out, tell us so the next student doesn’t have to ask.
If you want to present
Conferences like this usually want an abstract submitted well before the event, so don’t wait until October to look into it. Message the organisers on Instagram or Facebook — in our experience student-run conferences reply faster there than by email.
AIMS and the Student Council are the other route in: both are involved in student academic life and can tell you who to talk to.
