Good to know
- Reachable by both bus and train — one of the few trips from Pleven where you have a choice. Buses leave from Pleven Central Bus Station; trains from Pleven Train Station, which is right next door. Compare both when you get there, and buy your return before you go.
- Fortress open 08:00–19:00; ask about the student ticket.
- There’s an evening sound and light show over the fortress on some dates — worth checking if you’re staying late.
- Comfortable shoes: the town is built on hills, and everything is uphill from wherever you’re standing.
