Why students go

The nearest electrical shop to the Medical University — a few minutes on foot, instead of a bus ride to a superstore on the edge of town. A branch of the Bulgarian Elimex chain, selling plug adapters, light bulbs, cables, extension leads, sockets, batteries and small electrical parts.

If you’ve just landed and your charger doesn’t fit the wall, start here. It’s a five-minute walk, and if they have what you need you’re done.

Good to know

Small local shop, not a superstore. No laptops, TVs or appliances — for those go to Technopolis or Technomarket.
Cards are accepted, but not always. At least one review reports being refused, so carry cash as a backup.
English is not guaranteed. Bring a photo on your phone of what you need — showing a picture works every time, in any language.
Closed Sunday, and Saturday only until 14:00. Plan around it.
If they can’t help, the bigger stores are your fallback: Praktiker and Technomarket on bul. Europa, Mr. Bricolage next to Billa, Technopolis on Georgi Kochev.
