How to play cricket in Pleven
There is no public cricket club in Pleven and no ground you can simply book. What there is — and it’s better — is an active MU-Pleven cricket team that plays in Bulgaria’s official cricket competitions and is still competing in 2026. It’s popular with international students, and the university’s Sports Sector organises cricket training for them.
You do not need to be an experienced player. The team runs informal practice as well as selecting players for competitive matches.
How to get in touch
Instagram — @mupleven.cricket — is the fastest way. Send a message; that’s where the team actually replies.
Something like:
Hello, I’m a new student at Medical University Pleven and I’d like to play cricket. Do you accept new or beginner players? Could you tell me where and when the team currently trains?
Other routes:

- In person at the university’s “Prof. Dr. Nedko Kyuchukov” Sports Complex — the same complex as the MU sports hall
Not a student?
Contact the same team and ask whether they allow non-students at training, run friendly weekend matches, or have a community WhatsApp group. We couldn’t find a published rule either way — the official university team may be students-only, but informal games often aren’t.
If that doesn’t work, the Bulgarian Cricket Federation will know whether any other group exists in Pleven:
