Before paying for a private gym, check what your own university offers. The MU-Pleven sports hall hosts the physical-education classes and student sport activities, and access for students is normally free or very cheap.
Ask at the International Students Center what’s included with your student status, what the opening hours are, and whether there are student teams to join — football, basketball and volleyball teams are usually looking for players, and it’s one of the easiest ways to meet people outside your own year. There’s also an active cricket team, which is the only way to play cricket in Pleven.
