4.8 stars from 7,600 reviews — one of the highest-rated places in northern Bulgaria, and only about 29 km from Pleven. A cave so large that a river runs through it and daylight pours in through huge holes in the roof.
The easiest real day trip from Pleven: leave after morning lectures, be back for dinner.
Good to know
- By public transport it’s two buses and a walk: Pleven → Lovech, then a local bus Lovech → Devetaki village, then walk to the cave. It’s doable, but the village service is infrequent — check both timetables, and the last return, before you set off.
- By car it’s far easier — about 40 minutes. Split a rental or a taxi between four or five people and it costs very little each.
- Open 08:00–20:00; parts may be closed in spring for the bat breeding season, so check before setting off.
- Wear proper shoes — the ground is uneven and wet.
- Combine with Krushuna Falls, roughly 20 minutes further on. The two together make one excellent day — and Lovech is on the way.
